GreenRoc aims to become a domestic producer of graphite anode material for the European Battery Industry, responsibly sourced at our own graphite deposit at Amitsoq in S Greenland.

GreenRoc is working to establish a processing plant to transform the graphite concentrate produced at Amitsoq into graphite active anode material. Today, European and North Amterica battery producers rely fully on sourcing their graphite active anode material from China, which is more than 40 days of shipping away from Europe, compared to Amitsoq being only 5 days of shipping from major ports in Northern Europe. 

GreenRoc has gained comprehensive insight into the processes and technology involved in the processing of graphite concentrate into AAM through the feasibility study conducted in 2023-2024. This AAM processing, which is currently completely dominated by China, involves three main steps: shaping, purification, and coating. GreenRoc utilizes proven technology at TRL 8, ensuring efficiency and reliability in the processing from graphite concentrate to battery-grade AAM. In May 2024, GreenRoc completed a feasibility study for an AAM processing plant with a capacity of 80,000t/a graphite concentrate, yielding about 40,000t/a AAM—enough for 1 million electric cars annually. The PFS shows the AAM plant to have a Post-Tax NPV8 of US$621M and an IRR of 26.51%.

At present, GreenRoc aims to establish a pilot plant to gain further insight into the processing techniques and to provide material to potential off-taking companies.
