Our Amitsoq Graphite Project in South Greenland is recognised by the European Commission as a Strategic Project under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act. It is part of Europe's plan to build secure, sustainable supply chains for the materials behind batteries and the energy transition.

In June 2025 the European Commission named two of our projects as Strategic Projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act. One is the Amitsoq graphite mine. The other is our planned downstream plant for graphite active anode material. Amitsoq was the first minerals project in Greenland to get this status.

priority treatment and faster timelines in permitting

better access to EU financing and support

closer work with EU institutions and the Government of Greenland

On 9 September 2026, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was in Nuuk with Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. She announced a €200 million Global Gateway Partnership Package for Greenland that covers critical raw materials. She named Amitsoq specifically and called it "a very important project in the field of the critical raw materials."

We were proud to hear the support described as a way to create value, jobs and growth in Greenland.
