From Greenland to Europe: graphite’s place in the battery supply chain

Graphite Explained | Information for investors
For use in a lithium-ion battery, natural flake graphite is concentrated, shaped, purified and coated to meet demanding anode-material specifications. The processing capacity between a deposit and a battery factory is a central part of the supply chain.
The IEA’s Global EV Outlook 2026 identifies graphite anodes as one of the battery supply-chain stages still heavily reliant on Chinese manufacturing capacity and expertise. Developing alternative supply involves building processing capability alongside mineral resources.
GreenRoc’s development pathway connects the Amitsoq Graphite Project in southern Greenland with planned anode-material processing in Scandinavia, supporting its aim to supply European battery manufacturers.
Pilot-scale work supports the development of this processing route. As reported in August, our pilot plant’s particle-shaping circuits have been commissioned and tested using third-party graphite concentrate. Its in-house laboratory supports product evaluation. Together, these facilities provide a practical basis for assessing processing performance and developing the route from graphite concentrate towards battery-anode material.
